Proficency 3: Beliefs about Students

Self 30 Observation Reflection:

  • Introduction to Exceptional Learners - SPED 3301

  • Spring 2013

This report from my Introduction to Exceptional Learners fieldwork contains not only the details of what I observed in the Self 30 program at Concordia University; it also reveals my beliefs concerning the dignity of each student. Regardless of ability, status, gender, ethnicity, or a plethora of exclusionary labels, I believe each student deserves to be treated and spoken to as if they are an intelligent human being with feelings and aspirations.

Handout - Creating a Safe Classroom:

  • Classroom Management - EDU 4226

  • Spring 2014

There have been many instances where the skills and strategies I learned about in Classroom Management have come in handy during my fieldwork.  While I have not yet had the opportunity to participate in establishing the classroom rules and norms, I have made it a point to be friendly, supportive, and conssistent. This is handout for creating a safe classro.om environment that I created for the class binder. It has been interesting whenever I have noticed one of my mentor teachers effectively using the strategies on this handout as well as the ones for crowd control and classroom organization that we talked about in class.
